Sundays Studio | Soho

70 Spring Street, New York, NY
2024 | Role: Design, Interiors

Sundays Studio is a wellness-focused, non-toxic nail care brand. A former apartment on Spring Street was transformed into a serene destination for their Soho location.

A series of small-scale interventions altered the space while retaining the residential feel of the former apartment while integrating new mechanical systems, upgrades to lighting, custom retail displays, custom manicure tables, and pedicure banquettes. A limited palette of white, oak, and peach upholstery defines the space, accented by carefully curated objects and plants.

The second-floor space is accessed via a keyed elevator, which opens onto a retail space that doubles as a kitchenette for events, with a communal table and shelving with integrated lighting.

The former living room, with large north-facing windows, has been transformed with the insertion of two upholstered oak banquettes that provide seating for pedicures, with integral exhaust and a shelf for clients’ bags overhead. A series of custom stools are provided for the pedicure bowls and treatment staff.

On the south side of the space, two former bedrooms have been transformed into the manicure treatment space, with solid-surface tables that integrate exhaust for the manicure treatments. The manicure room opens onto a small terrace with a custom wood bench.

A core of service spaces, including a hall closet for coats and equipment, a bathroom, prep room, and staff break room, occupies the center of the plan to maximize daylight in the client-facing spaces.

The south-facing terrace includes a custom composite wood bench that conceals an exhaust duct, outdoor furniture, and planters.
