Museo Del Barrio & Brooklyn Public Library, Sunset Park Branch 2025 | Role: Fabrication

We fabricated this interactive exhibit for Team Wonder as part of an installation designed by Barcelona-based Domestic Data Streamers, for events at the Museo del Barrio and the Sunset Park Branch of the Brooklyn Public Library.

Afoam provided fabrication and installation services for the exhibit at both locations, designing the enclosure to break down into smaller elements for transportation and to fit through constrained load-in paths at both venues. The complex nature of the installation, which blended precision physical fabrication with intricate, custom electronics, required a close collaboration with DDS to complete, test, and assemble at multiple locations in an compressed timespan.

From the outside, the exhibit appears to be a fantastic version of an average New York City Block. Visitors pick up phones arrayed around the “block” and record a message about their most memorable New York Experience. Upon a closer look, the block’s windows include a series of openings into an infinity-mirrored interior, displaying images generated from the viewer’s recorded message, joining a crowd of other images floating around in digital space.
